With 670 horsepower, 1.22 available lateral G-Force, and the same engine as in the C8.R Chevy race car you will want to protect your street-legal race car. Ceramic Coating
Ceramic coating is a liquid coating that utilizes nanotechnology to provide a completely invisible layer of protection. When applied to the surface, nanoparticles seal all the pores, making the surface extremely glossy, hydrophobic, and UV resistant.
The nano-coating forms a semi-permanent bond with the surface of the vehicle, resulting in a “sacrificial” layer.
It provides protection from contaminants as well as a shiny, and glossy finish to your vehicle by bonding to the paint. These products are called semi-permanent because they can be removed only through “cutting” aka polishing it off the vehicle with abrasive polish or wearing off naturally over years.
We typically recommend ceramic coating for customers who,
- Want a high gloss vehicle
- Want an easy-to-clean vehicle
- Don’t have the time or interest to wax your vehicle every 2-3 weeks
- Leasing or not planning on keeping the vehicle for more than 3 years and want some kind of protection for the paint
- Use the vehicle for business and want it to stay looking clean and new
- Want protection for the whole vehicle at a lower cost than paint protection film
If you plan on tracking your Z06 then we would strongly recommend doing it with a paint protection film option on all high-impact areas of the vehicle with the option to apply a ceramic coating over the top of the film.

Changing the Color: Accents to Full Color Changes
Vinyl
Vinyl is essentially a thin, colored sticker meant to be applied to garage-kept vehicles that are kept clean and not daily drivers and are meant to be temporary. It was never meant to be a paint alternative. Therefore these wraps are not made to last and often don’t.
Vinyl wrap is typically used for either racing stripes, side stripes, or adding an accent color to the vehicle. Some people also choose to use the vinyl wrap to do a temporary color change to the entire vehicle.
At Ghost Shield, we take pride in being honest with our customers about what to expect out of vinyl wraps. We don’t want unhappy or disappointed customers coming back within a few months because the wrap has failed or has suffered environmental damage. We want our customers to be informed about what getting a colored vinyl wrap entails.
Over time vinyl wraps will peel up or become damaged from normal wear and tear. Here in Southern California, the warranty on the vinyl wrap from the manufacturer is voided. We are considered a desert climate, and therefore no warranties will be honored by the wrap manufacturer. So when it comes to vinyl wraps there is no warranty for the film.
Colored Paint Protection Film
This is a relatively new offering coming onto the market. There are certain brands of paint protection film that come colored or patterned. This offers the color change of vinyl with all the benefits of paint protection film.
There is still a relatively small number of options for colored ppf films. But as time goes on and it becomes more popular customers can expect to see more and more color options.
Two brands we currently use are the Stek line of colored paint protection film, which can be found here. We are also working on carrying the FlexiShield colored paint protection films, which offer a wider range of more exotic color choices.
Protecting the Interior and Yourself – Window Tint
We offer both ceramic window tint and standard window tint here at Ghost Shield Film.
For our ceramic tint we use the Xpel Prime XR Nano-Ceramic film. If you’re wanting to get the most out of your next window tint, then the best place to start is at the top. Ceramic window tint is designed for maximum UV protection and heat rejection, even at the lightest of shades.

Our standard window tint, the Xpel Prime CS, offers a more cost-effective tint option while still being one of the top tint films. While not as effective as ceramic window tint, it still offers some protection from UV rays. Prime CS will help reduce glare and keep the interior cooler by protecting it from solar heat radiation.

Protecting the Underside of the Splitter: SlipLo
Protecting the front splitter is another important area to protect because with such a low front end it is bound to scrape against a driveway or speedbump at some point. Even with a lift kit.
The SlipLo is an adhesive-backed flexible plastic that adheres to your vehicle’s underside of the front splitter/bumper. It helps to guard the front end from curb rash and scrapes from driveways.
It’s a great solution because you do not have to drill holes into the bumper for installation. It works on any vehicle. It can even be used on rocker panels and other high-impact areas.
