Whether you’re seeking subtle enhancements or bold transformations, we’ve got you covered with these innovative customization options. Let’s dive in and discover how you can take your Model Y to the next level of style and functionality! Here are the 10 Ways to Customize your New Tesla Model Y:
1 – Self-Healing Stealth Paint Protection Film
Also Known as Model Y Paint Protection Film or “Model Y Wrap”.
This option allows you to turn the color of your vehicle to a satin finish and all while offering the best available protection to the paint! We use the Suntek Ultra brand of film, which offers a self-healing top coat for swirls and small scratches, hydrophobic qualities, UV protection, as well as a 10-year warranty.
It is the best option to get a matte or satin color for your vehicle. The film offers a more durable finish than a satin top coat would from the manufacturer or a vinyl wrap. Making washing the vehicle a much simpler task with the hydrophobic qualities it contains.
Another benefit of satin paint protection film is that a metallic paint will still show through the film. So a metallic white now becomes a satin metallic white.

2 – Vinyl Color Change
A vinyl color change wrap is the process of wrapping the exterior painted surfaces to another color. Vinyl is basically a large colored sticker. There are a multitude of different colors to choose from and in different finishes. Matte, satin, and gloss. Even “color flips”, which is a vinyl that changes color depending on the angle and the light.
One of the main benefits of vinyl is that it is removable. The main downside to vinyl wraps is that they are not made to last. With a well-maintained and garage kept vehicle a vinyl wrap can last years. But a poorly maintained vehicle, that is allowed to sit dirty, with water on it, bird droppings sitting for weeks, will go bad within a matter of months. Vinyl wraps are not for everyone.
Model Y Chrome Delete? Stripes? Model Y Full Car Vinyl? You have options!
3 – Vinyl or Black Paint Protection Film Highlights
You can go with everything from a pinstripe, to stripes, to wrapping a single panel. There are many different ways that a vinyl wrap can change the look of your vehicle. Add your own personal flair to the car.
You can “two-tone” your vehicle, either by wrapping the top half of the car or by wrapping just the hood, roof, and trunk deck. You can wrap just the hood as well.
There are many different ways to stripe a car. You can have a single stripe, dual stripes, stripes with accent stripes, or even side stripes. The options are really just about limitless when it comes to what can be done.
4 – Change the Color of the Trim or Emblems
The Model Y already comes all blacked out. But maybe you want to change that trim to red or carbon fiber? It can be accomplished by either painting chrome parts or vinyl wrapping them. Not all parts can be painted and not all parts can be wrapped. Emblems tend to be painted, as vinyl will start to peel after a while.
The process will vary from vehicle to vehicle. Typically window trim moldings will need to be vinyl wrapped, as the trims cannot be removed from the vehicle without having to remove and reinstall some of the glass. Or bagging off the entire vehicle to shoot the parts with paint, which would be very time consuming and expensive.
It is a way to add a subtle or even dramatic change to the vehicle. When wrapping or painting almost any color can be achieved. Everything from color-changing to black to blue to orange. The choice is in the customer’s hands.
5 – Wheel Powder Coat
Changing the color of the rims can help to really change up the look of the vehicle. You can go for a subtle change like gloss or satin black, maybe matching a chrome delete. Or do something more drastic like adding a pop of color or matching the wheels to body color.
Powder coating is a durable finish to your wheels that is similar to their original coating. Painting would easily chip and become damaged from everyday wear and tear. You want to make sure that your wheels are getting powder coat.

6 – Interior Accessories
You can cover or paint the wood trim across the dashboard and wrap the piano black center console. The wooden trim lends itself well to painting or vinyl wrapping in nearly any color. Plastic clips secure it in place, although removal is generally required only for painting.
The center console has additional options. You can use gloss paint protection film to preserve the look but still protect the gloss black surface. Satin paint protection film offers protection and a change in looks. You can also vinyl wrap the center console to change the color, finish, or texture of the center console.

10 – Brake Calipers
You can change the color of brake calipers by powder coating them, similar to the process used for wheels, allowing for customization to nearly any desired color. Alternatively, you can install a caliper cover over the top of them. Typically, you will encounter more restrictions in colors and designs. Some caliper covers come with logos, or “Tesla” or “Model Y” written on them.
You will want to ensure that the company knows what they are doing when it comes to this process. There are two methods of powder coating the brake calipers. One is to bag off the entire car, thereby protecting it from overspray, and then coating the calipers.
Or the second method is to remove and bleed the lines of brake fluid and powder coat them off the vehicle. Subsequently, reinstalling the calipers is necessary. Ensuring proper execution of the process is crucial. Regardless of your chosen option, it’s imperative to guarantee the safety and protection of your car, especially concerning your brakes. Moreover, it’s worth noting that many shops may handle wheel customization but avoid working on calipers due to liability concerns.

That’s good to know that powder coating is durable. I would want to name sure that anything that I do for my car lasts a long time, so that is a plus. I should take a look into getting something like that for my tires if I decide to customize my car.
How can I get my Tesla model Y customized if I purchase it in Raleigh Durham, North Carolina?
Hello Robert,
We would recommend looking for local wrap and tint shops in your area that can help you out, via google or yelp. If you’re interested in paint protection film we would recommend Suntek or Stek’s websites to help you locate local installers in North Carolina. Both offer colored, gloss, and satin paint protection films!
I am planning to color wrap my MY LR. Do I still need a PPF/ Ceramic coat?
If you wanted to vinyl wrap to last them putting ppf or ceramic coating over top would make the vinyl wrap last longer. If you only plan on having the wrap on there for less than 2-3 years, the vehicle is garage kept, and kept clean then the wrap should be fine.
